The Central Coaster
Scheduled Year-round Deliveries
The only Canadian registered oil tanker working along BC’s central coast, the Central Coaster, our treasured 150-foot double-hulled landing craft tanker, has a long history in coastal waters. The tanker plays a critical role in maintaining marine access to essential goods in remote communities.
Residents, essential service providers, fishing and logging camps, outpost stores, research centres, tree-planting sites, hatcheries and construction crews rely on our scheduled biweekly deliveries of groceries, fuel, equipment and other essentials.
This shallow-ramp barge is able to access remote communities in shallow water and can even unload cargo on a beach. Its 100-foot telescopic boom pedestal crane offers a 15-tonne lifting capacity.
Our tanker is based in Port Hardy with scheduled trips covering the south-central coast, central coast and central-north coast. Some of the freight and cargo the Central Coaster is certified and equipped to carry includes:
- Construction equipment, including road work and logging equipment
- Refrigerated and frozen foods
- Fuel, including propane, Avgas and Jet A fuels
- Dangerous goods
- Freight
- Industrial machinery
